September 14th @ AMC Monthly Meeting

Our guest this month is Chris Parker. He will be speaking on Amadou: the history and many uses--from firestarter to clothing--of Fomes fomentarius, a.k.a., the tinder conk mushroom.

Chris is the founding owner of Asheville Fungi, the mushroom cultivation supply store located in West Asheville. He is a self taught mycologist who began cultivating mushrooms at the age of 16. Since this humble beginning, Chris has continuously expanded his knowledge of mycology, giving him nearly 20 years of experience. He continues to be a teacher and mentor to many folks who are interested in and share his passion for growing mushrooms for food, medicine, and profit.
