Foray at DuPont State Forest

Date: July 22, 2017
Leader: Ken McGill

View the Species List

On July 22, 2017 AMC held a foray at Guion Farm in the DuPont State Forest.  The foray was arranged by Ken McGill with Ginger Fisher helping by leading participants on an alternate trail. Mike Hopping led a carpool from Asheville. There were 28 participants including students who came with Jay Justice from a course he was teaching in Highlands. The weather was clear, and the temperature warm.  96 species of mushrooms were identified.  Mike Hopping and Jay Justice served as the chief identifiers with help from several AMC members and James Pader who came with Jay. Thanks to Dan Manning for bringing the foray tables and helping with the foray supplies.  Everyone had a good day, and there was quite a variety of mushrooms found.
