August 2018 / AMC Monthly Meeting

Our program for August will be “Learning Your Way Around Amanitaville” by club member, Mike Hopping. Many mushroom hunters are fascinated by Amanitas but also intimidated when it comes to identifying them. Mike will present a straightforward system for Amanita assessment that only requires a digging implement, one functional eyeball, and internet access. If you’d like to improve your Amanita identification skills, prepare for the talk by printing out the PDF “Identifying Amanitas to Section" and bring it with you to the meeting.

Mike Hopping is co-author, along with Alan and Arleen Bessette, of A Field Guide to Mushrooms of the Carolinas.
